The Mediterranean Sea is a dear friend to many, especially when the wind blows and the sun is absent in the northern countries many dreaming of the warm winds, sea and sun. The Mediterranean is a fantastic ocean for sailing and boat charter, with an incredible richness and variety in nature, culture and history. We at Navegara are passionate about Mallorca, the Balearic Islands as a sailing- and yacht charter destination. We have a large and varied selection of boats and yachts, which we have carefully selected in Mallorca.

Mallorca and the Western Mediterranean

Cabrera in West Mediterranean

The islands have truly something to offer for everyone; it is especially easy to fly to Mallorca which has daily direct connection flights from close to every country in Europe.

It is simple to get here and with over 300 days of sunshine per year, warm water and beautiful beaches and bays, it makes the Balearic Islands a perfect sailing and motor yacht location all year around. The islands Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera host many unspoilt coves and well-maintained and modern marinas. It is ideal for families, friends and groups. And if you want to go ashore there are plenty of activities to choose from, for example golf, restaurants, shopping and theme parks.

In Mallorca, you have the city of Palma de Mallorca which is visited annually by millions of tourists. And the restaurant, entertainment and shopping range is enormous. Mallorca has stunning coves, world ranked white sandy beaches and dramatic scenery in form of the mountain range Tramuntana, which is a very popular destination for hiking and biking.

Sail to Ibiza

Ibiza in West Mediterranean

Unless Mallorca is not enough to explore, you and your company can easily sail to Ibiza, which is one of the two most western islands in the Balearic Islands. Ibiza is only 48 miles south west of Andratx, which makes it a perfect target to sale to in one day.

The dramatic landscape holds a lot of sandy beaches, beautiful and hidden coves that make Ibiza an ideal stop for your sailing charter in the Mediterranean sea. Close to every bay has its own trendy beach cafe serving grilled delicacies from the sea.

The biggest port with facilities for yachts is situated in Ibiza town and the international airport is just south-west of the city. Ibiza town can accommodate three marinas but still it is very crowded in the summer. When the sun has gone down over Ibiza the restaurants, bars and nightlife wakes up; which Ibiza is very well known for.

Just as Ibiza is known to be the party island of the Balearic islands,  you will be surprised to also find completely untouched places, beaches and coves that once attracted the first “flower power ” parties at -60 century.

Sail to Formentera

Formentera in West Mediterranean

The small and picturesque island of Formentera has a population of around 5300 people. In winter slumbers the island, only to wake up and turn into a thriving tourist destination a few months later.

The port of La Savina is located 3 km from the capital of San Francisco Javier, and during the summer it is shuttled by ferry to go to Ibiza and back. La Savina is also the only port on the island, but there are plenty of good locations around the island for anchorages.

During July and August, people come to the island to enjoy its beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere . Along with the beaches you will find family-run restaurants serving local specialities from the sea. And don´t be surprised if your neighbours walk without their clothes on, because nudism is widely accepted here.

If the weather conditions are good you should not miss to sail to Formentera.

Sail to Menorca

Menorca

If you seeking a quiet and relaxing sailing location, Menorca is a perfect cruising ground and a popular island to sail to. Menorca is the oldest of the Balearic Islands and the inland of the island is scattered with many archaeological relics, ancient monuments and caves, dating back to 2000 B.C. The nature is beautiful with rugged cliffs in the north and sandy beaches, coves and inlets on the southern side.

Menorca has the largest natural harbour, Mahon, with nautical facilities and berthing for yachts up to 30 meters. For larger yachts a place can be arranged by appointment. The international airport is only 7 km away.

One of the most popular anchorages for yachts is the Bahia Fornells. Fantastic restaurants line ashore and the local speciality is lobster stew. In the bay they have services such windsurfing, kayaking and diving. And if you want to go ashore there are plenty to do for the active guest.
